A Western Massachusetts native, Frederick Sienkiewicz was born and raised in Westfield to a family of church musicians, and was inspired to pursue a career in music through the writings of Joseph Campbell. Fred enrolled at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he studied with Eric Berlin and earned his Bachelor of Music, summa cum laude. In 2005, Mr. Sienkiewicz came to Boston to study at the New England Conservatory of Music with former Boston Symphony principal Charles Schlueter. Graduating in 2007, He earned a Master of Music degree with academic honors and a concentration in Music-in-Education.

Mr. Sienkiewicz is now working as an emerging freelance performer and trumpet teacher throughout the Greater Boston area and New England. He frequently performs with professional regional and community ensembles such as the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, the Granite State Symphony Orchestra, the Concord Chorale, the Hampshire Choral Society, and most recently as principal trumpet of the newly-created Neponset Valley Philharmonic Orchestra. Mr. Sienkiewicz also has an active career as a chamber musician and soloist. He made his professional debut in October 2007 as a guest artist with the North Country Chamber Players and has since collaborated on performances with OperaHub, the Parkway Concert Orchestra, and Harvard Group for New Music / White Rabbit Ensemble. He also performs frequently in churches and ceremonial occasions throughout New England, both as a soloist and as a member of Galenta Brass.

A versatile, dedicated and entrepreneurial musician, Fred is also an active artist-teacher and scholar in the Boston area. He maintains a studio as Applied Faculty of Trumpet at Gordon College in Wenham, MA and also teaches trumpet in both the Lincoln, Shrewsbury afterschool lesson program. As an extension of his work in teaching, Mr. Sienkiewicz is a Research Associate at the Center for Music-in-Education at the New England Conservatory of Music, run by Music-in-Education National Consortium director, Dr. Larry Scripp.

The past four summers, Fred has spent his summers near Bar Harbor, Maine as a member of the Pierre Monteux School orchestra. While there in 2005 he met the beautiful and talented Horn player, Kristen Dirmeier, and back in Maine this summer, they got engaged! Together they enjoy Maine, hiking, bicycling, running, yoga. Fred also recently completed the 2008 Bar Harbor Marathon.
